Eligibility Criteria for Enrollment at OpenHands Academy
At OpenHands Academy, we welcome students of all abilities who require specialized support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Below are the eligibility requirements for enrollment in our programs

Age Requirements
Students must be between 3 and 18 years old. Early intervention programs are available for children under 6.

Special Needs Criteria
OpenHands Academy specializes in serving children with: Hearing impairments (Deaf or Hard of Hearing). Visual impairments (Blind or Low Vision). Developmental delays, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Physical disabilities requiring therapeutic support. Learning disabilities such as dyslexia or ADHD.

Documentation and Assessment
Medical Reports: A medical or diagnostic report confirming the child’s condition (e.g., visual impairment, hearing loss, autism, or other special needs). Educational Records: Any prior school records or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) if applicable. Assessment by Our Team: Parents and students may need to attend an assessment session to determine the best-fit program.

Residency
The student must reside in proximity to the academy or have access to reliable transportation. Boarding facilities (if available) will follow separate criteria.

Commitment to Partnership
Parents/guardians must actively participate in their child’s education and therapy by attending scheduled meetings, workshops, and progress reviews. A willingness to collaborate with educators and therapists to support the child’s development.
